Sharepoint Error message

jpp1
Not applicable
For some time, I have been getting this message.  I have went through the steps serveral steps to resolve the issue with no success which I have pasted in this window.  Has anyone seen this error?  We do have a support contract with Symantec but, I want to see if anyone had the same issue first.

Backup- http://sharepoint\Index DB 1 (Server name)
Error: Unable to lock the Microsoft Share Point Server Farm
Directory was not found or could not be accessed.
None of the files or subdirectories contained within will be backup.

Resolution:

Release the topology lock manually within the SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration page:

WARNING: Before performing these steps, the user should check with the SharePoint administrator to ensure that the lock does not need to be in place for a valid reason.

1. Open the SharePoint Portal Central Administration webpage.  The URL in the Internet Explorer will look like this:

Example:
http://localhost:29501/sps/default.aspx

2. Remove the last part of the URL i.e "default.aspx" in the step1. With this modification the URL should look like this:

Example:
http://localhost:29501/sps/centraldatabaselock.aspx

Note: The host and port number of the URL may vary depending upon configuration of the SPS farm.

3. On the Central Database Lock page, it will indicate whether or not the topology is currently locked.  There will be a list of reasons why the topology is locked, along with three buttons as shown. (Figure 1)

Hi jpp1,

What do you mean about /sps/ in URL example in your second step?

This part of url will be constraint for all sharepoint farm`s with different settings?

Please, detail this moment, and what about sharepoint 2010? This url works too?

Thanks in advance.
