Size limit with Iomega REV

Hi,

I've setup my Iomega REV as a "removable backup to disk device" with a max file size of 32 GB (the whole disk).
Anyhow BE 9.1 keep creating smaller 2 GB files.
I've checked Iomega site and they state their "UDF REV" file sistem have a max file size of 8 TB.

Maybe BE 9.1 belive the max file size is smaller (i.e. 2 GB like in FAT16) and force the creation of 2 GB chuncks?

Kind regards,
Corrado

Hello,

Backup Exec creates a file of 2 GB like in FAT 16 and it is by design.
If you format with FAT 16 it will create a file 4GB.
You will have to format the drive using NTFS.

Thank you,

I understand there's a file size limit of 2 GB for FAT 16.
But Iomega REV does not use FAT.
It use UDF and you cant format it with a different file system.
UDF have a file size limit of 8 TeraBytes.

I belive BE does not reconize correctly UDF, and thus "fall back" to FAT 16 and its 2 GB limitation, despite the drive can handle bigger files (like other users reported in this forum, they can copy files bigger then 2GB on Iomega REV).

Iomega uses their own version of UDF which BE does not seem to understand so that might be the problem.

Hello,

Yes, IOmega uses rrd udf file system.
Backup Exec is configured to use 4 GB for FAT32 and there is no limit for NTFS.
However any file system like udf BE only creates only 2 GB
this is by design.
