Skipped Files

Ok, I'm sure this is a pretty easy answer, but I'll ask anyways.

Whenever Backup Exec runs, I get a completed backup save for two skipped files:

c:\Windows\System32\dhcp\tmp.edb
c:\Windows\System32\wins\winstmp.mdb

The one time we had to do a restore, it went through without a glitch leaving me to believe that these files aren't all that critical (as they are just temp files). However, is there going to be a problem in the future with these two files being skipped?

We don't have the AOFO option purchased so I can't set that.

Hello,

Are these the Sysvol files? If yes, they need not be backed up separately as the system state backup, already backs them up. ALso refer to the technote below:

Priya, one day you will read questions before posting.

Anyway Chris, the files in question are your DHCP database and WINS database TEMP files.

So firstly, they are fine to ignore as your system will repair them automatically.

Your WINS database can be rebuilt anytime, you really dont' care.

Your DHCP database is automatically backed up by Windows to the %SystemRoot%\System32\Dhcp\Backup\Jet directory,so as long as you cover this, your system will recover itself.

If you experience issues during restore, you can always copy the above directory into the C:\windows\system32\dhcp directory.

I would suggest unselecting these files from your backup selections, so that you do not get these errors.
