Slow backup of VMware guest with GRT

Hi all,

I have a VMware virtual machine (Windows Server 2003 SP2) with Microsoft SQL server installed. I want to backup this server with Backupexec 2010 R2 with the VMware agent. I also have a license for the agent for SQL server.

With GRT enabled, the backup of this server takes 4 times longer than a backup without GRT plus a seperate SQL backup together. With GRT enabled I see in Backupexec that is "updating catalogs" for a very long time.

In the backup logs I noticed an entry about the VMware VSS provider that has to be uninstalled, wich I did already. Has anyone seen this issue before, of has a solution to this?

Have you installed the backup exec VSS provider ?
It is located on the installation DVD.

Isn't the Backupexec VSS provider installed as part of the remote agent? The remote agent is installed on the server, but I'll try to install the VSS provider seperately...
