Stand-Alone Drive shows offline?

After an upgrade to SP4 on a Dell Poweredge 2600 windows 2000 server, my tape drive displays offline in the device listings on Backup exec 9.0 and I have not been able to run any jobs the past 2 days. Windows device manager shows the device is working properly but remote storage shows that the drive state is "not present, dismountable"?

In backup exec I went into the properties of the drive and cleared and checked the "enable device for backup exec" in the configuration tab clicking "OK" with each change, this did not work. I'm somehow thinking it may be a driver issue and am thinking of updating the driver, any ideas anyone has?
