Hi,

I'm trying to find a way to upgrade our current BE 2010 R2 to 2014 butI can't seem to find some answers so i thought I'd post here.

1. Do I need to upgrade our current Be 2010 R2 to a 2012 first before jumping onto 2014? Or can I make the leap from 2010 to 2014 without any hitch?

2. What are some of the best practices when upgrading our BE to the most current version?

3. How long does the uprade take?

thanks guys for the help!!

1. you can upgrade directly from BE 2010 R2

2. install all the hotfixes from live updates and copy the Data and Catalogs folder to a different location

3. the upgrade should run smoothly and only take 20-45 minutes

Hi lmosia,

Thank you for the quick response, I'll look into that you provided. I do have one last question, if you don't mind. Does upgrading to the latest 2014 version require for us to purchase a license? Or can we use our existing license/subscription. Most likely we'll be upgrading to the 2014 version, but just out of financial curiosity from our staff, they'd like to know the prices for upgrading to different versions.

-thanks

yes, if you have an existing maintenance/support contract you can upgrade your license to BE 2014 at no cost
