Symantec Backup Exec 2012

Hi all,

 

We have a total of 6 physical servers "windows based" and would like to acquire backup exec. as far as licensing, do i need one backup exec server license and 5 agent licenes? please advise on the licensing model,

You will require 1 Core Product license for the media server and 1 Remote agent license per remote

server.If you want to take backup of any application than you need application specific license.

For eg: To backup 1 Exchange server you will need 1 Agent for Application & Database license

If you have VM's, you might want to get the V-Ray edition.  You can check out the licencing guide.

Do confirm everything with Symantec Licencing because they are the final authority on licencing.

In addition if those remote servers run an application that needs the Agent for Application & Database License then this allows you to backup the file system as well so you won't need a standard agent licesne as well for that server
