Symantec exec 2010 backups on reinstalled server with same name

Hi,

we use Symantec Exec 2010 R3. We backup many servers and applications. Now I reinstalled SQL server, imported all data and gave the SAME fqdn name to this server. I installed agent (not sure if the right way) through Tools / Install Options and Media Servers on Other Servers / selected same server from AD. How to be sure that bach up will work as it did before reinstallation?

thank you,
n

...that all looks right. Check the Job Setup tab and make sure your jobs appear there along with your selection lists.

Then check the media sets and make sure your tapes are there. Once done, run a backup job!

Thanks!

1st make sure if the server appears in the "Favorite Resources" of the selection list.

Select few resources from the server and perfrom a test for credentails.

You may take a backup of a file or a small size folder or else you may try a "Test Run" of the

actual job. Test Run will just scan the selected resources and will return tentative results

...check under Tools --> Options --> SQL. You can set the checks there.

thank you Craig. I have other backups configured wich also failled last couple weeks. As space in tapes is limited, could I do pre backup activities to ensure that everything is correct. Could I perform Test Run of the backup ?

thank you

...no reason for you not to try...

You can also do a credential check in the selection list if need-be.

is this one error? or it is related that it can't find full backup?

You need to run a full backup of your SQL databases before running an incremental backup.
