Is anyone willing to share how they have set-up synthetic backups with respect to backup frequency and media retention? I am just about to embark on configuring this on 10d/WK3 and can't quite get my head round the process. I am assuming the synthetic backup effectively replaces my current weekly full but am I correct in thinking that I need to duplicate the synthetic if I have been use to sending my fulls offsite? As I understand it the first synthetic full becomes the baseline in the next iteration so I need it online to create the next synthetic full. Is this process automatic, does the application know to synthesize the most recent synthetic full and incrementals to generate the next? Also do I ever need to take a baseline unsynthesized full again or can I rely on the synthesized fulls forever more?
