Synthetic backup

CS_09
Not applicable
I read through best practices and admin guide (section for Synthetic Backup) but still confuse about how Synthetic backup resets archive bit and why does it become the baseline for future incremental backups.  Currently we have full backup to tape every night.

I want to do following.

- Run Baseline backup on weekend (On Sat night) to disk and then duplicate to tape
- Run incremental backup from Sun to Friday to disk (so we can restore files if needed without using tapes)
- Run Synthetic backup from Sun to Friday to tape for disaster recovery purpose.

Is above senario possible?  Would archive bit reset beacuse we are doing synthetic backup every night?  Is there a nother way to do this?

We have limited space on disk so we can't do full backup every night to disk and keep that for a week.  We can however backup full once a week to disk and incremental for next 6 days.  That way we can restore files faster from disk when needed.  But we still want full backup to tape everynight in case of disaster at disk location.

Please advise.

Thank you!
