System State backup extremely slow

I am running BackupExec Server 2012 (version 14.0 rev 1798 x64) on Windows 2008R2 x64.

A Backup job includes a number of folders, SQL databases as well as complete system state.

The folers and SQL databases achieve backup speeds of approx  2216 MB/min, however the system state only achieves 218 MB/min

Is there a fix for this, as the system state alone takes over 2hrs to complete which is too long.

If you have not upgraded to SP2, either run LiveUpdate or download it here

Backup Exec 2012 revision 1798 Service Pack 2

and install it.  After upgrading to SP2, push out the remote agent to your remote servers.

Is the Windows 2008 R2 server updated with SP1 ? If not, pls do so as this contains MS patches such as 979612 & 982383 which helps in performance increase.

If running an AV, exclude it from scanning BE processes.

Lastly, edit the backup job and \ Click on File & Folders option on the left-side. Uncheck the following options ~
Backup files and directories by following junction points and mount points
Backup files and directories by following symbolic links
