Tape Alert Message

I'm getting a Tape Alert Message, "Job 'Inventory Drive 00009 has reported multiple tape alerts on Server. Please refer to job log BEX00725.xml for more detail". In the Job failed alert, I get "Backup 0004 -- The job failed with the following error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."
Any ideas? Do I have a bad tape drive?

Hello,

You could also try cleaning the tape device. Clean it 3-4 times.
Check for event ID 7, 9, 11, 15 on the SCSI card under System Logs.

Make sure that you have not connected the device on a RAID Controller card.

On a SCSI card make sure you have set the device to use SCSI IDs 2 onwards.

Stop the Removable Storage service and deactivate it.

Check for SCSI terminations and cabling and preferrably get your device thoroughly checked from your device Manufacturer.

NOTE : If we do not receive your intimation within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to ‘answered questions’ pool.

As per our previous reply, marking the case as "assumed answered" and moving it to "answered questions" pool.
