Tape drive on another machine

Is it possible to run backups to another PC on the network with a tape drive attached or does the tape drive need to be attached directly to the PC running Backup Exec 11d?

The output tape device/library must either be directly attached to the media server or on a SAN utilizing the SSO (Shared Storage Option)
