The Backup Exec job engine system is not responding

The backup fails and when I click on it or its properties it generates this error and opens selections that has only 2 options and they can not be selected. I think i should repair the database in utilities but I'm not sure how this will affect the server. I'm assuming this database repair relates only to the veritas backup database - correct?
