The big problem with Backup Exec and VMWare VCB - you can't use templates

I've used BUE with VCB in a previous life at another company, and am currently trying to choose between CommVault and BUE for the company where I am now.  Once again, an important consideration is integration with VMWare.

I just remembered the biggest problem we had using VMWare VCB with Backup Exec:  you  cannot use policies or templates because you have to specify a unique pre-command for each backup.  This is a huge problem if you want apply consistent policies to a large number (about 50 in our case) virtual guests.  You have to set up individual jobs with individual settings (schedules, media pools, jobnames, etc...) for every server.

Anybody know of a way around this problem??

What version of ESX are you using?

We just got a quote for VMWare VCB, and planning on buying it 1st quarter 08.
We have 80 virtual guests on 10 ESX 2 and 3 servers.
Also, within BE11d, I converted all my individual jobs to policies and templates about 4 months ago.
