Are you backing up a remote Windows 95 computer? Win 95 is not compatible with backup exec 10.0. Refer to the Software compatibilty list for 10.0 for more information:

What is the exact error you receive during backups? As windows 95 is not compatible, we cannot guarantee its functionality.
