Recently the machine managing the backups fell over (Backup Exec 11d on Windows 2003 server). A new machine was loaded with the same software and all the latest patches for the OS and BE were installed.
The problem on the newly configured machine is that BE is unable to browse the fileserver from the Backup Selection List window. The fileserver is a Linux machine running Samba. The shares are specified as \\192.168.0.5\Data or \\FS1\Data in the User-defined selection, but when trying to expand either of the shares the following error is returned:
"An error was encountered when attempting to browse the contents of 192.168.0.5, a network connection to the server could not be established".
I have no problem browsing the shares from WIndows Explorer and Backup Exec is running with the domain administrator account privileges. The DNS is correctly configured and there are forward and reverse entries for the hostname and IP respectively. There are no firewalls of any sort configured on either of the machines.
Backup Exec is configured to login with the domain admin account to the network shares.
Any recomendations on troubleshooting this further will be appreciated.
