Enviroment -
Server - 2003 Windows 2003 SP, 1 Back up Exec V9.1Rev. 4691SP2

Storage - Cybernetics miSAN-V8 D2D2T backup device connect via SCSI, 3 Virtual Tapes
VT 1.1 = 1GB
VT 1.2 = 1,498.3GB
VT 1.3 = 500GB
Virtual Tapes Show in BE interface as Drives (IBM Ultrium-TD1 LTO)

Tape Device - Quantum ATL Superloader - 18 tape libary, connect to miSAN via SCSI. miSAN enabled Virtual access.
Shows up to BE interface as a Robotic Libary (OVERLAND 1) with all slots available

Backup procedure -
Servers are backed up to the miSAN VT 1.2/IBM 3 drive weekly. Then VT is duplicated to LTO tape

(IE we have a HD copy and LTO tape copy) LTO tape copy goes off site for 1 year.

miSAN backups are stored till end of month then the VT is erased.

Problem - When Duplicate to tape operation takes place recieve this error ( Duplicate Job is run manualy - Duplicate backup data)
Unable to determine ADAMM media identification. Catalog query failed.
Error : 80004005 - Unspecified error

If the miSAN VT is erased and new backups run the duplicate works same day - copies data to spaning tapes- duplicates all data to tape but job failes with error 0x80004005 - Unspecified error
Catalog query for next media failed.
(Data is on tapes and can be restored and cataloged)

If tried again days following recieve this error (even if no other data is written to this VT)

Restore operations from the VT happen normaly- catalog and inventory of the VT happen normaly - no errors

Only when duplicating from the VT to the LTO tape device do I receive this error

I can not find any answers to ADAMM media errors

This tech note - http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/275225.htm

is not the problem I am having - Use Fast File Restore is set to 1

Please suggest a solution

Solution found -

Found that creating a new job every time I want to duplicate from the miSan to Tape using the New job to duplicate backup data selection from the job setup menu stops the ADAMM error messages

When in doubt - delete the old job and create a new one each time

hope this helps someone else - kind of stumbled on the solution by trial and error

Total issue not corrected - see next post----

This will keep my backups flowing but still need an answer to why the job becomes corrupt and why run the duplicate works same day - copies data to spaning tapes- duplicates all data to tape but job failes with error 0x80004005 - Unspecified error
Catalog query for next media failed.
(Data is on tapes and can be restored and cataloged)

Hello,

This error occurs if there is not enough disk space on the volume where the Backup Exec catalogs are stored. Try changing the catalog path to a different drive from the Tools | Options | Catalogs menu.

Please refer to the below given steps to move the catalogs to another location.

1. Open Backup Exec and select Tools > Options. Under "Settings" select "Catalogs"
2. The catalog path may either remain at the default setting or be changed as needed. If the target folder does not already exist, it will be created.
3. After the changes have been made, Backup Exec will prompt for a reboot. Select Do Not Restart
4. Go to Control Panel > Services and stop all Backup Exec services.
5. Browse to the original location of the catalogs and copy all of the files that end with a .UO1 extension to the new location.
6. Reboot the computer.
7. Open Backup Exec and confirm that the restore selections are displayed.

please update us the results.
