Hi everybody
I'm trying to restore my Exchange 2003 Storage Groups redirecting it to a new empty Exchange 2003 server.
I dismounted the new Mailbox Store , the Public Folder Store and I checked the "This databese can be overwritten by a restore"

When I start the restore what happen is that the new mail server start receiving the backupped data; infact I can see the network utilization that reach ~95% for almost 2 hours. But the database are not restored!!
This is the BE log I get:

Error: The database Mailbox Store (MAIL) must be created prior to restore.
An error occurred restoring the database.
Please use the Event Viewer to examine the event log or view the database log file for details.
Error writing file data.
The media operation was terminated by the user.
Error writing file data.
Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled.

Please can I know why this happen?

Thanks for your answer

Bye

When redirecting Exchange data to a different server, the following must be true on the recovery server..

- The Storage Group/s name must be the same as the original server.
- The Mailbox Store/s and the Public Folder Store must also have the same name as the original server.
- If you are restoring the whole Storage Group - and the original has 3 Mailbox Stores, the destination must also have 3 Mailbox Stores and again, they must be named the same as the original server.

In BE - choose Exchange redirect, Enter in the Recovery Servers name.
In Settings, Exchange, Make sure No Loss Restore is unchecked.
