Unable to restore a mailbox

Hi,

I am running Backup Exec 11d (build 11.0.7170) to backup an Exchange 2007 Server.

The backup works correctly ( I can even see every mailbox in the restore tab ) , but the problems start when I want to restore an e-mail.

Hi Danny,

This error indicates that there is an issue with the temporary location on the restore.

Where are do you have your Temp directory going to?

Yes that's true, I did not specify any temporary folder for that restore. Do I have to ?

What is the Syntax ( for the path ) to use in this case ( \\SERVERNAME\FOLDER NAME ) ?

Danny,

In the options for the Microsoft Exchange setting in the restore job setup, the default is C:\Temp, this will be created on the Exchange Server, so all you will need to do is put in the drive letter and the path.

I have created this c:\temp folder on the Exchange server , and mentioned it in the required tab of Backup Exec , anyway the error is still the same .

Any other idea ?

Im having the same or nearly the same issue.

I have a 349+ gig exchange store and my c drive on exchange is not big enough to stage the database for a message restore.

So I attached a LUN from my SAN to the BE server and made it  i drive. So the restore starts and puts down 347 gig and then I get this failure.

Hi Patty,

One important ( and very strange ) remark :

If the backup is performed on HardDrive  ( instead of tapes ) I can restore an e-mail without any problem. As soon as the backup is done on tapes .. I have error messages when trying to restore E-mail.

Tapes backup does not cause any problem for other types of backup ( Files, SQL , ....)

We are having the exact same issue.

)Restoring to an exchange 2003 mailbox from tape.
)It reads and transfers all the exchange database files to TEMP location (there is space)
)After the transfer it fails with this msg:
