Unable to see or connect to client

I had a Windows XP client whose open file option was not working during the backup. All files were being backed up, but I wanted to correct this problem. From the Rant32 folder I ran removeaa command, rebooted the computer, then ran setupaa and setupoafo commands and rebooted the computer again to reinstall the remote backup agent. After doing this I was unable to connect to the client machine. I repeated the process several times with no luck. Next I uninstalled Veritas using the Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel. I threw away all files and folders associated Veritas, and repeated the uninstall and reinstall process from the Rant32 folder. I was still unable to connect to the remote computer. When I tried to setup a new selection list, the computer was no longer listed under The Microrsoft Windows Network under the Remote Selection of the Job Setup window. How do I resolve this problem?

Hello,

If you cannot see the XP machine at all, please check if the remote agent service is running on that machine.

You can disable force guest as follows:

The Backup Remote Agent service is running on this machine, and ForceGuest has been disabled.

Hello

Please check if you can backup the machine via user defined selections:
