Hi, I would use this document to upgrade to Backup Exec 2010R3 http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH159557  and after installing all the latest hotfixes, service packs and revisions by running live updates and also found here http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH66724

I would recommend taking time to research and test Backup Exec 2012. see here for some of the differences http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH180232

when you are ready you can use this document for best practices and help in upgrading                         How To: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO73273&actp=search&viewlocale=en...               Best Practices:  http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO74426&actp=search&viewlocale=en_...

You cannot upgrade directly from BE 12 to BE 2012.  You need to upgrade to at least BE 12.5 first.  A good choice would be to upgrade to BE 2010 R3 which you can download from either the fileconnect site or

http://trialware.norton.com/files/fc/Backup_Exec_2010_13.0.5204_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual_DVD.iso

After upgrading to BE 2010 R3, you can upgrade straight-away to BE 2012.  You do not need to update BE 2010 R3.

To use BE 2012, you would need a new set of licence keys which you can get for free if you are on a current maintenance contract.

You might want to read my article below before upgrading

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/preparing-install-or-upgrade-be-2012

Since BE 2012 is quite different from previous versions of BE, if I am in your shoes, I would take note of my job settings, uninstall BE 12, install a fresh copy of BE 2012 and then re-create my jobs.

There are some videos in the Video section of this forum.  The Admin Guide can be found in the BE installation directory or downloaded from
