I plan to upgrade from Backup Exec 2010 R3 to 2012 14.0. Are there instructions anywhere or any tips I need to know before upgrading? I received the email from Symantec with my upgrade info. and have downloaded the file. Can I uninstall BE 2010R3 and start fresh or do I just put in the CD and do an upgrade? Seems we always run into problems with Symantec upgrades. Any guidance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Lori

That would be fine, or download it here:

Whichever course you take, run LiveUpdate after installing SP1a as there are a couple of HFs available.
Thanks!

Please take time to go though each of the below video/document before you attempt to upgrade/install Backup Exec 2012 in production environment. Backup Exec 2012 looks and works differently as compared to its previous versions.

and..
If you do not have too many jobs/data and if you can afford to start fresh with Backup Exec 2012, that would be the best thing to do. (simply because the new Backup Exec 2012 is looks and works quite differently from its previous versions)
If possible, install Backup Exec 2012 in a test enviroment / standalone machine first, so you can get to play around with it, it may take a little while for you to get used to the new UI.

I do not have many jobs/data so starting fresh would not be a problem. Do I need to request a different download other than the one that Symantec sent in my email BE-DVD-1798.17a.HF1c.SP1a or is this ok to use as a new install?
Thank you!
