User-defined selection on a Virtual server behind a firewall

I am trying to backup a VMWare virtual server in a different network and is behind a firewall. I have installed BE Remote Agent on the remote server and the service is running. I also opened port 10000 and 6101 on this server. The problem is when I try to access a shared resource on the server via the user-defined selection e.g \\serverName\share and try to authenticate to it I get a message "the directory or file was not found or could not be accessed" . It turns out from the server engineer that the firewall is setup in a way that a reference of the server name cannot be resolved to point to the appropriate VM instance. Access to machine is by referencing the domain where the server is located and port#. So I am wondering if I can do something like \\123.23.60.20:10000\share. I have tried this but it does not work? Is there any trick I can use? Any help is appreciated
