Using backup exec to backup to disk on another server

Hi,

We are implementing a dedicated backup server to consolidate 4 of our tape backups to 1.

I am setting up a job to back up from one server to a folder on the new backup server.  The tests I have run generate a succession of around 100 - 1 gb files in the folder for each job.  Is that normal and will setting the job to overwrite actually overwrite those files each night?

What you are seeing is normal. 1GB is the default B2D file size, which can be changed if you wish.
Whether the files will be overwritten depends upon the overwrite protection period and append period for the media set you are allocating the media to.

Would it make our backups to disk faster if we were to set the block size larger?  How do we go about setting that size?
