VSS Error.

Hello,

When we run a backup on our Windows 2003 SP1 Server Domain Controller we get the following error message:

OFO: Initialization failure on: "Shadow?Copy?Components". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
OFO: Snapshot error (0xfffffed1): A failure occurred querying the Writer status.

Could you let me know what this error means and how serious it is? As the backup appears to carry on anyway I don't know if it is something to worry about.
Any advice on fixing it would be greatly appreciated!

have you already checked the VSS writers through vssadmin ?

Hello,

I have been through that document, but there were no errors detected.
One odd thing is that there were a number of the writers (including the NTDS, WMI, DHCP and System ones) who have the status " Waiting for completion".

We have already tried to restart the server to sort these out - to no avail.
