VXA tape device - Clean drive alert will not clear

Eric_Theisen

Here is my situation I have 2 servers with VXA tape devices in them - single slot - each night I get the following 2 errors 1 - A yellow alert that the tape deice needs to be cleaned and 2 - The job is stuck on verify. Lastly the tape is ejcected out of the device (I have it set for auto eject on job finish.

Removing auto eject leaves the tape inside the server but still sutck on verify.

When I clear the clean alert and make sure the tape is in the device then the job finishes and ejects out.

I don't want to turn off the clean notify but It looks like this is the only solution - Does anyone else have any other idea?

I have ran a cleaning tape in both devices and this has not stopped the clean tape drive error.

Are you current on firmware and drivers for the SCSI controller, the tape device and the library?

If yuo are using Veritas drivers for the tape drive, try using manufacturer drivers instead.
