Backup performance depends on various factors, some of them are as follows:
A. Tape Drive used for backup (Tape drive or Autoloader) and the media.
B. Hardware or software compression used.
C. The device drivers, firmware for the backup device.
D. Local or remote network backup.
E. Antivirus option selected.
The following guidelines will be useful to improve backup throughput:
1. Make sure that the antivirus protection is disabled during the backup process.
2. Ensure that all the hardware devices are working properly. The firmware on the tape device is updated to the latest.
3. Ensure that there are no third party applications running during the backup process.
4. Download and install the latest VERITAS tape device drivers for Backup Exec v 10.0 using following link:
