We want to take the backup of our quality server (Win 2008 R2) which also hosts our development server (Win 2008 R2) as a hyper-v virtual server.
We have Symantec Backup agent for windows server runnin in our Quality server.
Do we require to take the backup of both 'System state' & 'Shadow Copy component' to rebuild our server in case of a disaster.
Do we have to backup any other folders in C: drive (inetpub, program files, windows, system volume etc) to get our server exctly as before. (including applications, drivers, application configurations etc.)
Can we get the Hyper-V backed up by simply backing up the VM vhd folder (either the VM in saved or off state) + the system state of the host server.

Incase of Windows 2000/XP system state backup is enough. But for Windows Server 2003/2008,/2008 R2 backup system state and shadow copy components both.
Refer The following TN about hyper-v backup. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH69183

You need to backup the system drive along with the System state and shadowcopy component . You cannot perform incremental backup for the system state and shadowcopy component . Would recommend you to use the backup exec Hyper-v agent to backup you Hyper-V server.
