Why are BKF files and IMG folders being created ON the very disks that I'm backup up?

I've been using BE 2010 for years but I'm brand new to v20 (Trial). BE Filled my RAID disk because by default it created a terabyte of .bkf files and IMG folders on the same drive that I'm trying to backup.  I only expect these files to appear on the EXTERNAL disk that I have designated as my storage device.  Why are these files being placed on my target internal drive in addition to the external storage device?

1) check the drive selected for backup
2) check storage for backup
3) confirm path where storage is configured.
Please share some screenshots. Also check on the time stamp of the written media to find which job was running and may have written to that storage.
4) test a small backup and check if it behaves the same way
