Windows Activation after System Restore

I followed the steps in Document 243037 to restore a Windows 2003 Small Business Server. The restore was successful, however it indicates the hardware has changed since it was activated and I now have 3 days to re-activate.

Hello Michael,

I request you to explain what do you mean by "hardware has changed since it was activated and I now have 3 days to re-activate"

Regards

The Windows activation wizard comes up and indicates there has been significant hardware changes and the system must be re-activated with Microsoft.

Hi,

Have you performed the restore to a server with different hardware?

This behavior can occur if there are significant differences between the current hardware and the hardware that was in use when the original installation was backed up. These hardware changes require product re-activation.
