Workgroup desktops cannot see each other

Once I access Backup Exec 11d (or 9.1) I can no longer see machines within my workgroup from each other. I can see them from the server (which reacts very slowly), but cannot see the server from them. I must reboot the server to clear this issue. All is fine again, until I access Backup Exec then same problem results.
