a00084cf - Unknown error on a restore

Hi, we are having difficulties runnig a restore of a Windows 2000 server (sp4)

Our backup server :-
Windows 2000 server sp4
BackupExec 9.1 4691
IBM LTO2 autoloader

I'm currently trying to restore a few files from our backup of Tues 18th, the backup did not report any errors and I can see the required items in the restore tab.
The restore will will just fail about 1.5mins into the job with processing any data with the a00084cf error message, but no more information.

I have tried redirecting the job to another folder (on both servers) and have used different account details in case it is an access issue but to no avail.

I have also reinstalled the tape driver (am using Veritas drivers). but this restore error will appear for all tape slots.
Event logs give no indication to cause and have had no unexplained backup failures since the unit went live (about 3 weeks ago)

cheers
Dan

Hello,

Kindly refer the following:

-> Inventory and the catalog the tape again

-> Perform a restore and check the result.

-> If you are doing a restore to a remote system, perform a restore to the local drive and check if it is successful.

-----------

-> In Backup Exec go to Tools -> Options >Catalog

-> Uncheck Use storage media-based catalogs

-> Re-catalog the tape and then perform a restore and check the result.

Un-checking Use storage media-based catalogs will force Backup Exec to
build a new catalog from the media.

For this reason, the catalog operation will take much longer than normal
catalog operations.

Thank You,

Shweta

Hello Daniel,

Could you please update us on the issue? Have you been able to run the restore?

Thanks!
