automatic archiving of job-specific folders

Q. Is there a way to automatically generate a backup selection list to archive specific folders on a server using information from an sql server?

more detail

i work at a printers and we store all the artwork generation and final artwork files on an ntfs volume in folders specific to a job number which is generated by our sql server based management information system (mis)

e.g. job number 23456 on the mis will have its files in the folder something like D:/documents/23k/23456/
job number 25678 will have files stored in D:/documents/25k/25678/

when a job is completed we flag it on the mis as such (jobdetails.completed = true)

once a job has been printed/completed we don't really need its files unless a reprint is required so we archive them each month

could backup exec poll the mis for completed jobs and create a selection list to archive the jobs

Any help appreciated. If more explanation needed please shout.

Thank you

Neil

From the Information given above I think Backup Exec Archival option will be able to the required things.

Here are the technotes for you to know more about the Backup Exec Archive Option (File System) :

The Archive option won't perform its action based on external data though will it?

In this scenario, only files which are part of jobs that have been completed should be archived. If a job is incomplete, the files shouldn't be archived. The information about whether the job is complete or not is held only in the MIS.
