If you have installed SP1 of Windows OS, then try to take backups using Windows backup feature if its Win 2008 OS..... or try to backup the Information Store using NTBackup if its Win 2003 OS.

After these backups are completed check if the Exchange logs are cleared.

Thanks,

-Sush...

I think Windows Backup feature in Win 2008 should be able to backup the Exchange Information Store.

Thanks,

you mean in a Standby Continuous Replication (SCR) environment  , I can backup Exchnage ?

Actually i am not familiar with backup Exec 2010 . I saw The exchange 2007 backup job run successfully.

After i check the folder where log resides , i found it didn t clear the  logs ?

Why backup Exec 2010 not clearing the logs ?

Please help

Hi,

Are you perhaps using AOFO with you r Exchange backups? If so, turn them off in the job, and try again.

Is the exchange agent installed ?

Are you creating a backup of the log files ?

Check the option under Advanced Open File.

AOFO = Advanced Open File Option, which allows backups of open files. However, it does tend to cause some issues when backing up databases. I personally had BE 11d cause logs not to clear in Exchange while using AOFO. I ended up splitting my jobs up between data and databases.

You mean AOFO ?

Are the log files included in the backup selections ?

And is the Exchange Information Store sucessfully backupped ?
Are you able to select a mailbox when you browse through a restore ?

AOFO is used during the backup, see the log:

AOFO: Started for resource: "\\MBXV.mycomp.local\Microsoft Information Store\SG1". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).

Please doublecheck your settings.

...check under Tools --> Options --> Advanced Open File, as well as in your actualt job itself. If it isn't enabled in the job, then its enabled in the global settiings under Tools...
