backup exec 10.0 SP4 won't backup data says e00084af files not found

i've just installed backup exec 10.0 on a windows 2003 R2 Server. It installed without problems, saw the attached tape drive, allowed me to specify devices and create jobs. a test run of a job ran without error.

when I actually try to do a backup, though, regardless of which directory i try to backup, nothing is backed up and I get an error e00084af - the directory or file was not found..

I applied sp4 but that did not help.

this is my first experience with backup exec as I have been an arcserve guy. what's the trick to get this to work?

I have determined that 10.0 will not work with windows 2003 R2 server. upgrading to 10.D resolved the initial problem of no data being backed up with the files not found error message. There is another problem now whichi I will post separately.
