I was hoping maybe I could get some tips on how to optimize my disk based backups that are going to a remote server over a VPN tunnel connection? They always fail at different times with the same message, network name is no longer available. The network location is still available, but maybe there is just a network hiccup during the backup? The backups are anywhere from 500mb to 1.5gb in size. I have software compression turned and tried hardware compression previously. When I installed the remote agent on the server I clicked the option to optimize for network backups. The remote server is just a stand alone box that receiving these backups is its only job. Ive also turned on the error handling rules in hopes that if the jobs continued to fail because of "network name no longer available" that the job would atleast retry, but it doesnt help either. I appreciate any replies. Thank you.
