disk folder that was specified for this job is on a volume that is different

Mr__Mojo_Rison

V-79-57344-4614 - The backup to disk folder that was specified for this job is on a volume that is different from the backup to disk folder used by previous backups of this resource. Select the same volume, and run the job again.

This backup has been running successfully for months and we suddenly got these errors last week. This week when we changed the physical disk it began completing again. Looking at the Knowledge base for the error I can't  find any thing. Does anyone know what would cause this error or what a fix may be.

Thank You

I've never seen that error myself.  Would it be possible to get a screenshot of that?

I get the same error after recreating the backup to disk folders on a new disk due to a disk failure.  Do I now have to delete and recreate the jobs just to make up for a disk failure?  That would be a pain in the .....

No information on the error on the symantec site, and this thread is the only Google reference.

Hey guys let me know if this technote helps out with the issue.

Thanks.

Nope - it is a local drive and it has had successful backups before the disk failure.  I replaced the disk with a new - identical - disk, recreated the file structure, and now get this error.

After the disk failure, did you recreate the Backup to Disk folder and also point the job to the new backup to disk folder?

Are these policy based jobs or standard jobs?

Are the jobs incremental or fulls?

As I mentioned, I replaced the disk with an identical disk, with an identical file structure - so the backup to disk path is correct - i did not recreate it because it is correct.

The path was LocalDisk:\Backupfolder\Exchange, and the new path is LocalDisk:\Backupfolder\Exchange

I deleted the jobs created by policy and re-ran the job and it completed successfully....

Turns out the incremental backups are now backing up ONLY system state - not the information store. (yes, it is selected in the selection list) - is it correct that it only backs up the logs and not the store?
