e0009418 - Access to a device was not authorized with this edition of Backup Exec

Receive this error when running backup jobs. The help link sent me to a site that said to install the SQL agent. We are not running SQL on this server and the agent is not installed or purchased. Another link said to  delete and recreate the job which I did. This did not fix the problem. Another link said to use the user defined selections instead of the Favorite Resources. Neither works. I am using Symantec BE for Windows Server 12 with the Advanced Open File option licensed and installed.

What type of Data are you backing up?  Are you backing Up Exchange?

If this is a remote backup, have you installed a RAWS serial on the media server, and is the Remote Agent service running on the Remote Server

This issue was resolved when I dir the latest update for Backup Exec.

I have the same issue, I would always get the message that the remote agent was a different version and the backups would run fine.  Then the 8/26/08 backup job failed and subsequently the next day's backup failed for the same reason.

 

What was the hotfix version you uninstalled?
