free up disk space by purging log files etc

Hello

I am running Symantec Back Up Exec 2010 r3 on a Windows Server 2003. 

I am running out of disk space and wondered if I could move/delete unneccessary Symantec files, e.g. log files

Can anyone assist

Hello Lois,
    First of all you will have to figure it out which files are taking more space on your drives. Regarding moving of Symantec files then in that case you can delete logs files which are in formate <servername>-beremotexx.log, <servername>-benginexx.log, <servername>-sgmonxx.log files present at the location C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs.

Other than this I would not recommend to delete any files randomly or without knowing thorugh effects of deleting the files.

The only thing that you could remove manually would be the Backup Exec\Logs folder.

It would be better if you be specific about what data you want to delete to make more space available and where.

You may be able to free up space on your drive by moving the Backup Exec Catalogs to a different drive. Also for all the future backups, you could change the location where the Backup Exec Job Logs are stored.
