Backup - C: Unable to open the item C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat - skipped.
Unable to open the item C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr1.dat - skipped.
Does anyone know what gmgr0.dat and gmgr1.dat are?
Mostly, these files are locked by the BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) service and cannot be copied
by the programs.
It seems that the backup program cannot copy the files, either. BITS is a component of the Microsoft Software Update Services ( MSUS).
This service has been updated and included with SPs.
Generally, we can just skip them when this issue occurs.
If you cannot backup files due to these two files, you may
disable BITS service by running services.msc and then re-enable the service after backing up files.
or even better you can use the pre\post option on the client agent admin and use a batch file to stop this service prior to backup and start it after the backup.
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) creates and uses the Qmgr0.dat and Qmgr1.dat files. When BITS runs, the Qmgr0.dat and Qmgr1.dat files are always locked. Because of this locked state, the backup Exec cannot open and back up the files. Therefore, you will notice that the file are skipped.
You can ignore this warning.
Stop all the BE services.
Open the registry editor: 1 : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\Backup Exec\Engine\Misc
2 : Click Edit | New | DWORD value
3 : Type Exclude Active Files as the name of the key and type 0 as the data value
4 : Start allBackup Exec services on the media server
