licence keys veritas 9.1 to 12

recently we had to add a lot of licence keys to our backup-exec installation that was still running on version 9.1 .

our distributor and symantec confirmed that we could by the agents for version 12 or version 12.5 and thatnthe upgrade should run smoothly. But is is not ..

the server stays in an evaluation mode , but the agents work OK

 

how to solve this ?

If you are running a 12.x BE Server, you WILL need a 12.x BE Server license.  Even though you have and loaded 12.x Remote Agent license, that will not surfice for the server part.

 

Now, if your 9.1 licenses are still under maintenance, then you can have Customer Care upgrade those to 12.x, but if you aren't under maintenance, you will have to purchase all 12.x licenses for everything you have in the 9.1 environment, including the Drive and Application agent licenses.

 

What they may have meant, was if you bought 12.x agents, you could load those into your 9.1 environment, have Customer Care get you 9.1 keys with the purchase of 12.x Remote Agents.
