monitor remote agents

I orginally posted this in Feature requests and shouldnt have, couldnt see where I could move the thread so I'm posting again.

 

 

 

I've come in this week and found two or three agents on remote servers were stopped.  Is there a function of Backup Exec that can alert me if this problem is found so I can restart the agent on the server and have a successful backup?

 

Also, do the agents listen on specific ports?  If so, I'm going to try and either find or write a VB script to run in WhatsUpGold so I can be  alerted if the agent is stopped.

 

And lastly, is there a way to mark the job completed w/ exceptions if BU Exec didnt talk to the agent rather than have it marked as failed? After all, the backup completed, it just wasnt able to backup that server in question.  This is primarily for SOX reporting. Job Failed is somewhat misleading and not 100% accurate.
