restore emails to a folder on hard drive

I need to restore some emails to a folder on the BackupExec server.  Restoring them right back into the users mailbox works great,   but I tried redirecting the files to a folder on the server drive,  but its not working.
Is this even possible?  If so I appreciate any replies.

Not using BackupExec. 

I think there is a third party utility that will do it, but can't come up with a name right now
