slow backup speed after upgrade

Diego_Alonso

I was running V9.0 on a Windows 2000 server and Compaq DLT IV VS80 getting 300-400MB/s backup speeds when backing up the local drive. I upgraded to V9.1 SP2 and now my backup has dropped to 5MB/s!!! Nothing has changed other than the BE upgrade. How can I troubleshoot/fix this?

Thanks,
Diego

Hello,

- Please verify if the network traffic during backup time is not too high.
- Stop any third party applications during backups
- Stop the antivirus service
- Are you backing up to a tapr or disk?
- If you are backing up on a tape update the firmware of the drive and the controller.

- Also install the latest drivers.
VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 - Device Driver Installer (20050115) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20041231) and Robotic Library Release (45) (Intel Only)

I was able to correct the slowness by using the tape hardware block and buffer size options. I saw that on one of the docs that you suggested.
