veritas 10d backup of backup to disk folders slow

Not applicable
Backup exec 10d issue:

*two stage backup
*using windows 2003 server R2 as backup server, this is
server's only function. All updates applied.
*Drive is an array on an hp storageworks smart array 1000.
This is connected by fiber to backup server and seen on the
backup server as a local D: drive.

*BAcking up to hp ultrium LTO3 1x8 autoloader. In the device
manager, the device is seen as two devices:

-Hewlett Packard 1x8 autoloader (x86 based XP/2003) driver
is HP 5.2.3790.2 and
-Hewlett Packard LTO Ultrium-3 Drive, driver is veritas
5.1.1.1, and just updated firmware.

*backing up to disk works aok, getting good throughput.
*backing up to tape:

-backing up to tape from disk array over the fiber= 10mb per
min average. Starts out at 500mb and backs down to 10mb.
-file copy over from the d: (disk array) to the c: over the
fiber averages= 2gb per minute.
-backing up to tape any network drives averages between
750mb per minute to 900mb per minute.

*we cannot test with microsoft backup, does not see the tape
auto loader.
*the backing up to tape from disk array over the fiber at
10mb per min is unacceptable. This is a new install and the
licenses installed are:

-Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers
-Advanced Open File Option
-Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option
-Agent For MIcrosoft Exchange Server
-Agent for Micorsoft SharePoint Server

-no antivirus installed on this until the issue is resolved.

*any help on the disk to tape slow throughput issue is
apprecitated. Thanks for your help!!
