vmdk is not displayed

Following problem.

We added a second disk to an already existing virtual machine.

The problem is that the new vmdk is never displayed when you browse thru the ESXi host via BE.

In contrast if you create a new machine this one is displayed immediately?

We also tried to reboot the backup server without success.

Any idea how to make the new disk appear within BE?

Even after waiting an hour the new vmdk was not displayed.

As a last resort I tried to reboot the ESXi server and voila the missing vmdk reapeared.

Don't tell me that this is the only way to solve the problem.
