Centera Connections when not using Collections

I'm onsite at a customer trying to troubleshoot a slow index rebuild and I wanted to know how EV connects to a Centera. Basically, when monitoring the Centera and the network connections we see EV connect and then drop connections constantly. So I'm assuming that EV will connect to Centera, retrieve the clip id\saveset and then drop connections for each item as opposed to making a connection to Centera and maintaining that connection until there was no work left to do. Can someone confirm this is how it is supposed to work? Thanks.

Yes, that is how it is supposed to work. 

That is why the Performance guide recommends increasing the Storage archive process to at least 10 if collections is not being used.

Hi,

that's not a big performance hit at all though if you look at the dtrace for the customer.  Delays are more about reading blobs normally.
