Hi guys,

we've just recently upgraded our EV backend from 7 to 9 , and when you open messages in archive explorer, outlook 2007 and 2010 has the previus/next item button to view the next or previous mesages, back in EV 7, it was working, but now those 2 buttons are greyed out. anyone has a workaround for this? thanks

That would definitely be the case because AE opens from VC

That is a bit strange, it is working fine in my EV 9 lab.  Is Archive Explorer still opening in Outlook or is it opening in a browser?

When I launch AE in Outlook I have the buttons but if I launch AE in Internet Explorer I don't.

Also, now that you are on EV 9 you should look at Vault Cache with Virtual Vault.  You might really like it.  :)

are you absolutely sure its working tony?
The fact is when you have a previous/next button, it means the previous message before and after in the same message store, the fact is though that when you open an archived item in Outlook, it will restore it to a temporary PST file where the item is the one and only thing in that PST file, meaning there is nothing to go Backward to or Forward to.

so im not sure how/if it works or ever worked, because by definition, it shouldn't

yeah, I was actually a bit surprised it really worked.  It could have to do with the fact my vault cache is enabled and AE is reading from that.
