Multiple retention categories assigned to an item, which on wins?

If I have a message w/ attachment that gets sent to 2 people, and one of them stores it in the Vault with a "7 year retention" category and the other stores it with a "3 year retention" category, which category would actully apply to the attachment?

Would the shortcut be deleted from the user with the 3 year retention category assigned to the message, but the message and attachment would stay around another 4 years for the other user?

Retention is set per message, which includes the attachments.  Each of these users would have separate pointers to the same message.  The first user's reference would go away after 3 years, but the second user would have access to the message (and attachments) for an additional 7 years.
